Fake Blood Recipes

There are a lot of different recipes
for stage blood, each one a little different from the next.
All of the
ones here are very inexpensive to make and sometimes each
recipe can suit a different purpose.
Experiment with them and find the right one to suit your bloody
needs.

Basic Karo Blood Gel
There are a lot of variations of karo-based blood but this
one is the simplest and quickest to put together.
This type of fake blood is thick and intended to be used as
congealed blood.

What You Need
Karo Syrup
(May also
be called White Corn Syrup)
Red food coloring
Blue food coloring
A jar or other container to keep the blood in
Something to stir with
|
This is basically how this mix will turn out.
|
|
How To Do It
Pour as much Karo Syrup as you need into a jar
or other container.
Add red food coloring and stir the mix until
you
get a nice color.
Add only 1 or 2 drops of blue food coloring for
a more realistic color.
Stir well.

This mixture is pretty thick so
if you are looking for something a little thinner, try the
next one.

Low Budget Fake Blood
(Makes enough to coat 2 actors)
I got this recipe out of the book "If
Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor"
by Bruce Campbell
(great book!), so all the credit goes to where ever Bruce
got it from. I haven't tried it yet but it
should be much thinner than the Basic Karo Blood recipe above.
| What
You Need
6 pints clear Karo Syrup
3 pints red food coloring
1 pint non-dairy creamer
1 drop blue food coloring
Large bowl
Medium bowl
Spoon
|
| How To Do It
Pour Karo Syrup into a
large bowl.
In a medium bowl, stir the non-dairy creamer
until it turns into a paste.
Gradually fold the non-dairy creamer paste into
the syrup.
Stir in red food coloring and then add a drop
of blue food coloring for density.

Kool-Aid Blood
This next blood is not very thick but it's good for any scene
where blood drinking or
blood splattering is needed.
The recipe makes quite a bit and it doesn't taste half bad!
| What You Need

1 tablespoon of flour
A small pot
One 0.13oz packet of "Black Cherry"
Kool-Aid mix
|
| How To Do It

15 minutes.

Kool-Aid mix and stir well.

Chocolate Syrup
Are you making a black and white picture?
Well then you can just use chocolate syrup for your fake blood.
Supposedly, Alfred Hitchcock used this method in the famous
shower scene in Psycho.
